2. Drawing ANYTHING

“Drawing Anything” is a lovely intro into the world of digital sketching.

In this series of lessons we are learning to draw shapes in 3 dimensional space and learning to break down all objects into basic shapes. Full of simple and challenging exercises to improve your sketches from reference and imagination.

3. Fun Perspective

“Fun Perspective” is a series of lessons dedicated to introducing you to the concept of 1-,2- and 3-point perspective. Discover how fun and easy perspective can be through various entertaining exercises.

“Drawing Anything” is a prerequisite for taking this class, as some of the concepts taught in it reflect the knowledge you need for this series.

Lesson 2. Perspective Terms & Big Ideas

An introduction to Linear Perspective. This video is in the form of a lecture, and a general overview of the topic.

Most of this information will be expanded upon during future lessons, but I decided it’s best to dive head first into the topic and then sort all of the information onto appropriate shelves.

In this video we also talk about other ways to show depth in your work.

4. Light & Shadow: Rendering in Digital Art

“Light & Shadow: Rendering in Digital Art” is dedicated to understanding how light and shadows behave, so we can believably render subjects from reference and imagination.

In a way, we are learning traditional art lessons, but applying them to digital medium. Acquiring this knowledge is often a rarity, and it will truly boost the look of your work.

Lesson 2. Understanding Light & Shadow

In this lecture we are going over the 2 most important rules of light and shadow:

Everything that receives light is also the source of light.
When the plane changes – the value changes.

Once you understand these ideas, plus a few others I mention along the way, it will be really easy for you to know how to most effectively paint from a reference photo as well as imagine how light would behave in your own drawings from imagination.
